To construct : mn perpendicular to line ab

Step-by-step explanation:

  • take a line AB  of any length
  • take a point M not on it
  • with M as a center and any radius draw an arc intersecting the line at points R and S
  • now with R as a center and same radius draw an arc
  • with S as a center and same radius draw an arc
  • mark the point of intersection of the two arcs as point N
  • join MN
  • MN  is the required perpendicular to the line AB
