  • Parallel lines are the two or more lines whcih are equidistant from each other.
  • They never intersect.

The following are the steps to construct parallel lines using ruler and compass.

Steps :

1. Draw segment AB 6cm

2. Take a point P anywhere outside the line segment AB

3. Join PS

4. With ' S ' as the center draw an arc with convenient radius.

5. Label interesting point of PS and AB as QR respectively.

6. With P as the center and the same radius draw arc and label it XY

7. With the compass measure distance R to Q.

8. With Y as a center draw arc and radius will be equal to RQ

9. Draw a line from point P and point X  and label it CD

10 ∴ AB ║ CD
