For the diagram Refer the attachment.
- Parallel lines are the two or more lines whcih are equidistant from each other.
- They never intersect.
The following are the steps to construct parallel lines using ruler and compass.
Steps :
1. Draw segment AB 6cm
2. Take a point P anywhere outside the line segment AB
3. Join PS
4. With ' S ' as the center draw an arc with convenient radius.
5. Label interesting point of PS and AB as QR respectively.
6. With P as the center and the same radius draw arc and label it XY
7. With the compass measure distance R to Q.
8. With Y as a center draw arc and radius will be equal to RQ
9. Draw a line from point P and point X and label it CD
10 ∴ AB ║ CD
