To test the conductivity of sodium chloride, the technique used is referred to as electrolysis.
Electrolysis is a process where the electrolyte is decomposed as electricity is passing across.
Electrolyte, in this case, is sodium chloride and in electrolysis, we prefer using the graphite rod since it is inert in nature. This is to say that graphite rod is unreactive.
