 \large \bf{Answer : }

Plastics are polymers of simple molecules (monomers). The arrangement of simple molecules,in different polymers,isn't of the same type.

There are certain plastics where monomers are arranged In a straight chain. Such plastics are said to have Linear Arrangement of molecules; they are generally know as Thermoplastics. These plastics can be deformed easily on heating and can be remoulded into a new shape. Example - Polythene, Polyvinyl Chloride,Nylon,Polysterene and Terylene

In some other plastics,the momomers are cross-linked. Such plastics are said to have cross-linked arrangements; they're generally known as Thermosetting Plastics. These plastics cannot be deformed on heating and therefore,cannot be remoulded again. Example - Bakelite and Melamine

Draw the diagram showing the presence of linear polymers in a thermoplastic and cross –linked polymers in a thermosetting plastic.

SOLUTION :

See the above attachments..

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

Thermoplastics or thermoplasts are those plastics which can be moulded repeatedly.

It easily solidifies upon cooling.

It is made of linear polymers.

The diagram is in the attachment above.

Thermosets of Thermosetting plastics are hardened.

They can be moulded once only.

This is due to the presence of cross linked polymers.

The required Diagram is in the attachment ...
