To draw:

Displacement-Time graph of a stationary object (i.e. object at rest)

Solution:

First of all , we need to know a few facts about displacement:

  • Displacement is a vector quantity represented as the shortest length between the starting and stopping point of an object.

  • In other words, displacement can also be calculated by the difference of position vectors of the object with respect to a reference point.

Now , the question says that the object is at rest, so the object's position will not change with respect to time.

Hence , the displacement time graph will be parallel to the time axis.

Graph:

\boxed{\setlength{\unitlength}{1cm}\begin{picture}(7,6)\put(2,1){\vector(1,0){3}}\put(2,1){\vector(0,1){3}}\put(2,3){\line(1,0){3}}\put(1.5,3){D}\put(4,0.5){t}\end{picture}}
