Materials through which electric current can pass through easily are called conductors of electricity. Pure water or distilled water is a poor conductor of electricity. ... But the presence of even small amount of impurities makes water a good conductor.

Explanation:-

The conductivity of a liquid is a measure of charged particles, called ions, that are free to move around.A liquid solution consisting of compounds that completely break apart into ions have a high conductivity. Table salt NaCl dissolved in water is an example of a high conductive solution. By touching the negative and positive leads of a multimeter that is on in the resistance setting allows you to measure the conductivity of water, a test of its purity. When water conducts electricity, it is made possible by water impurities such as metals. Conduction of liquids depends on the ability of liquids to form ions. Some liquids such as oil or alcohol do not form ions and do not conduct electricity. Vinegar is mostly water with a small amount of acetic acid in it. The acetic acid separates into ions in water. So its solution conducts electricity. Conduction of tap water depends on its hardness.
