Solution of 2x+3y+4=0, 9x-3y+5=0 is x = -11/9, y= -26/33

  • Given,
  • 2x+3y+4=0
  • 9x-3y+5=0
  • add both the equations.
  • y coefficient gets cancelled
  • we get,
  • x=-\dfrac{9}{11}
  • substitute the value of x in any one of the above equations, we get,
  • y=-\dfrac{26}{33}

The solution is $(-0.818,-0.788)$

Explanation:

The two equations are $2 x+3 y+4=0$ and $9 x-3 y+5=0$

Solving the two equations using elimination method, we have,

Adding both the equations, we have,

2 x+3 y+4=0\\$9x -\ 3y + 5 = 0$\\--------\\7x +9=0

Simplifying, we have,

$\begin{aligned} 7 x+9 &=0 \\ 7 x &=-9 \\ x &=-0.818 \end{aligned}$

Substituting the value of x in $2 x+3 y+4=0$, we get,

$\begin{aligned} 2(-0.818)+3 y+4 &=0 \\-1.636+3 y+4 &=0 \\ 3 y+2.364 &=0 \\ y &=-0.788 \end{aligned}$

Thus, the solution is $(-0.818,-0.788)$

The attached graph below shows the solution of the equation:
