x + y = 3 then x = 3 - y

put the value of X in other equation

We get 3(3 - y)+y=5

9-3y+y=5

9-2y=5

-2y=5-9

y=4 we get then put the value of y in other equation

we get x+y=3

x+4=3

x=(-1)

so the value of X and Y is {-1 & 4 } respectively
