Concept:

The intercept equaiton of straight line is given by,

x/a + y/b = 1

It suggests that the line cuts the axes at (a,0) and (0,b) points respectively.

Given:

Given the linear equation is 2x + y is equal to 3.

Find:

The graph of the above linear equation.

Solution:

The mathematical form of the linear equation 2x + y is equal to 3 is,

2x + y = 3

2x/3 + y/3 = 1

x/(3/2) + y/3 = 1

Now comparing the above equation with intercept form of the straight line x/a + y/b = 1 we have,

a = 3/2 and b = 3

Since the equation is linear equation so it is an equation of straight line which cuts the axes at (3/2,0) and (0,3) respectively.

Hence the graph of the linear equation 2x + y = 3 is given by,
