Distillation is a process by which we can separate substances as well as purify the substances with impurities.

The method of separating any two liquids through heating and so it changes into vapour in a distillation flask then the condensation of the vapour occurs thereby changing the vapour back into the liquid form.

Method of distillation

• The mixture is kept in a distillation flask and porcelain bits are added to avoid bumping when it was heated.
• The flask is heated.
• The liquid present in the flask vapourises inturn the impurities are left as such in the flask.
• Thus it is used for separation and purification purposes.
