Snell's Law says ∠Incidence = ∠Reflection

Explanation:

  • A ray of light PQ is incident on one of its faces at point E, making a ∠PEN, also called the angle of incidence ∠i, at the point of incidence. Normal at point of incidence is NN'.

  • Ray of Light passes from a rarer medium (air) to a denser medium after entering into the transparent medium.
  • The Block material has a more refractive index as compared to air. There is a bending of light to normal as it gets refracted.

  • Another face of the block gets impinged at a point F because of the straight path traveled by light ray.
  • The ray of light starts bending away from MM' at F, which is the normal, due to light ray emerging out and leaving the block.
  • RS is the emergent ray because of the ray of light leaving and proceeding again into the block with a straight path.
