The first step that occurs or happens is duplication of genes.

The second step is the karyokinesis where the nucleus of the main body cell gets divided into two.

Then cytokinesis happens as the third step where the cytoplasm is divided into 2.

The last step is marked by the formation of 2 daughter cells having their own nucleus separately.
