Brain highest co - ordinating part of our body.

It is protected by cranium and inside there is a fluid which helps in preventing shock.

Brain consist of three parts:-

i) Forebrain :- Largest part of brain which consist of cerebrum and olfactory lobe.

Cerebrum is responsible for all reflex action and involuntary actions it consist of 4 parts

They are. :-

i) Occipital lobe. :- Region for sight.

ii)Temporal lobe :- Region for hearing.

iii)Parental lobe :- Region for smell taste etc.

iv)Frontal lobe :- Region for speech and other muscular activities.

b)Olfactory lobe :- Region for smell.

2)Mid brain :- It is located at mid part of the brain.

Function :-

i)It separates fore brain and hind brain

ii)Main centre for reflex action

Hind brain :- Consist of three parts

I) Cerebellum :- It is located at top of hind brain.

Function:-

i)Helps in maintaining balance and posture of the body.

2)Pons :- It lies just above medulla oblangata.

Function:- Takes part in respiration.

3)Medulla oblangata :- It lies at the floor of the hind brain.

Function :- Main centre for all involuntary actions such as breathing ometing heart beat etc.
