Drawing ray diagrams for an object at infinity and by using the sign convention show that the focal length of a concave mirror is negative and that of a convex mirror is positive

  1. The object should be always placed at the left side of the mirror.
  2. The distance between the focus and the pole is called focal length. The left side of the zero is always negative.
  3. And the focal length is positive in convex mirror because the focal length is right of the mirror
