Dopdi is a peasant tribal name and Draupadi is derived from the name of the famous character in Mahabharata. In the epic, Draupadi is married to five Pandavas. Spivak points out, “Within a patriarchal and patronymic context she is exceptional, indeed “attacker” in sense of odd, unpaired uncoupled.
