The law of octaves has the following limitations

(A) The law of octaves was found to be applicable only upto calcium. It was not applicable to elements of higher atomic masses.

. (B) Newlands placed two elements in the same slot to fit elements in the table

There is many drawbacks

First he made it on the basis of atomic mass and repeated them after 8 elements on the basis of their properties which generally dont repeat after 8 elements

Secondly he made certain exceptions like he placed few elements in same place which didnt have same properties
