Dry hydrogen chloride gas do not turned into blue Litmus read whereas Dilute hydrochloride does...... reason?

Dry hydrogen chloride gas does not turn blue litmus red when hydrochloric acid does. Give one reason. Acidity is due to the ability of giving H+ ion. Dry hydrogen chloride does not give hydrogen ions and so it does not act as an acid and does not turn blue litmus red.

This is so because ionisation to hydronium ion occurs only and only when HCl is dissolved in water and acidity is nothing byt the measure of Hydronium ions . In the dried form no ionisation occurs and thus Litmus paper does not get turned red due to absensce of hydronium ions
