Dry hydrogen chloride gas does not turn blue litmus red whereas hydrochloric acid does. Give one reason?

there is very simple region..acids are those which produce free H+ in aquous medium...HCl acid produces free H+ bt HCl gas doesnt produce free H+ therefore HCl acid gives litmus test and HCl gas doesnt give litmus test...

Here's Why..!!
Dry HCl is in covalent form and does not dissociate to give H+ ions. In aqueous solution , HCl dissociate to form the same and changes the litmus colour because it is the H+ ions that are responsible for colour change.
