Dry hydrogen chloride gas does not turn blue litmus to red. Whereas hydrochloric acid does. Why?

This is because HCl produces H+ ions only in the presence of water.Since the hydrogen chloride gas does not contains water it does not turn blue litmus to red where as HCl acid turns.

Dry HCL gas is not an acid because it does not produce H+ ions can't turn blue litmus to red litmus.
Hydrochloric acid is an aqueous solution so it can produce H + ions hence it can turn blue litmus to red litmus.
