Due to Dr Muthulakshni’s good efforts the cancer institute (WIA), also known as Adyar Cancer Institute was started at Adyar.
It is a non-profit cancer treatment and research center which is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Her outstanding services that she has rendered to the country in various capacities and responsibilities earned her the Padma Bhushan award.
She was also the first female student to be admitted into a men’s college, the first woman House Surgeon in the Government Maternity and Ophthalmic Hospital, , the first woman Deputy President of the Legislative Council, and many more achievement she has earned.
