All primary schools in the national capital will remain shut till March 31, deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia has said.
All Delhi govt, aided, private and schools run by civic bodies will remain shut, said Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio.
"As a precautionary measure to prevent the possibility of spread of COVID-19 amongst our children, Delhi Government has directed immediate closure of all primary schools (Govt/ aided/ private/MCD/NDMC) till 31/3/20(sic)," Sisodia tweeted.
The announcement comes after a new case of coronavirus was reported in Ghaziabad, taking the total number in the country to 30 so far.
Three schools in Delhi and adjoining areas on Wednesday announced holidays as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus. While two schools advanced their spring break, others sent out advisories to parents.
On Tuesday a day after the Union Health Ministry confirmed two fresh cases of coronavirus in the country with one of them in Delhi, two Noida schools also sent messages to parents announcing their closure.
One of the two schools, where the infected Delhi man's son is a student, said it will remain shut from March 4 to March 6.
