The calcium hydroxide solution, when applied to the walls, reacts slowly with the carbon dioxide gas present in the air to form a thin, shining layer of calcium carbonate on the walls of the house. When calcium carbonate is heated, it decomposes to give calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.the way it starts to combine with other things;so as to stop such combining processes we use iron container because they are not capable of mixing with each other
