Here is it:


Combustion reaction is a reaction in which a substance majorly hydrocarbon  reacts with oxygen and a large amount of heat is evolved in the form of heat and light.

In other words, we can also state that whenever a substance is burnt, combustion reaction takes place as oxygen is one of the major requirement for burning.

We can take the example of burning of methane(CH_{4} (g) from the NCERT class 10 book only:-

CH_{4} (g) + 2 O_{2} (g) → CO_{2} (g) +   2 H_{2}O(g)

(This  reaction can be found on Page number - 7 of NCERT science book)

This reaction is highly exothermic due to the evolution of a large amount of heat.
