it's origin is tanjor. there two books -Natyasashtra by bharatmuni and Abhinav Darpan by Nandikeshwar which are the original sources of bharatnatyam. Aarti from mrinalini sarabhai and Gopi Krishna , the actress like hema Malini and vaijanti msla are considered to be preservers of this heritage.
