During expiration the carbonate ions break down into C02 and H2O in alveoli then isn't it harmful and if not then why???

Carbon dioxide is dissolved in the blood and later removed from the lungs in the same process of respiration during exhalation and water is absorbed from the blood by the nephrons in the kidney so they don't persist in the lungs for a long time hence they are harmless
