The cells inside our body oxidise the digested food to produce ATP in the form of energy. Sometimes when we do heavy exercise or workout, our muscles need a lot of energy but the initial amount of ATP seems insufficient.

For getting more oxygen, we breathe faster but if still the right amount didn't reach our muscles, we suffer from muscles cramps.

Reason of getting muscle cramps??

Our cells respire in presence of oxygen to form ATP. This is known as Aerobic respiration. But when there is less amount of oxygen available, the respiration that takes place is anaerobic respiration.

Now the glucose is oxidised to form lactic acid which is a three carbon compound which causes severe pain. This can be cured by waiting for sometime to get enough oxygen and by massage in lukewarm water.

Option (iii) Lactic acid is the correct answer.
