No doubt that the Mughal art, sculpture and architecture reached its pick during the rule of Sahjahan and it was one of the reason that the period of Sahjahan was called as the "golden age"of nearly 250 years of Mughal rule. If we look at the Mughal history, we would find that Babar and Humayun could not expand the empire much, In fact the empire was confined to Delhi and adjacent area only during their regime. Akbar actually expanded the Mughal empire. Akbar was a good administrator having religious tolerance. His son Jahangir ruled only 22 years, that too with the able assistance of his wife Noor jahan. His son Sahjahan in his 30 years regime(1628-1658), Mughal rule reached a new high. He was also a good administrator, in fact Sahjahan's period was remarkable due to his patronage in art, sculpture and architecture. For this he spent, rather to say drained huge, huge amount of money. Some historians said the period as the "age of seductive splendour". Sahjahan spent eight crore at that time to built fis Royal chair ( Mayur Singhashan) in-scripted with gold and diamonds. Besides a number of Tombs, Masjid, and edifice were built in his regime. These were in Indo-Iranian Art form.and most of them were made of white stone. 'Moti muhal', 'Khash muha'l, 'Sish muhal' inside the Agra fort, 'Diwan-i-Khash', and 'Diwan-i-AAm' in the red fort were some of the sculpture and architectural creation during his regime, but no doubt the Taj muhal - the world's wonder was the best. And then came the period of erosion of mughal empire during the end of Aurangjib's regime.
