1. Liberalism/Capitalism: Britain was one of few countries that had truly adopted this system that led to a higher educated middle class with incentive to start business and achieve economic growth.

2. Population/Agriculture: The British were some of the first to adopt new agriculture techniques that stimulated population growth and created a workforce to man the factories as well as making more people available to take on other jobs as less people were needed on farms. Also of note the high wages Britain enjoyed in late 18th century which made an incentive to instead find other kinds of labour, namely machinery. I'm not sure why Britain had such high wages though, anyone with an answer?

3. Resources: Domestically Britain had a lot of coal which of course was the center of Industrialisation, something other possible candidates lacked. In the colonies Britain had many other resources, cotton for example, that helped start the revolution.

4. Anglo-French Wars: The many wars of the 18th century and culminating in the Napoleonic Wars ravaged much of Europe while Britain stayed more or less untouched. Also of note is how Britain was victorious in a clear majority of these wars that helped them become the number one world power even before industrialisation (which of course helped even more).
