during the construction a of a building the lightning conductor was left hanging in the air by mistake. Will the lightning conductor still work. Explain properly.

If the lightning conductor is hanging on top of the building, it will still work. The work of lighting conductor is to provide a sharp tip so that all the current can easily flow into the ground through the conductor. Even when the lightning conductor is hanging on the top, the sharp tip will still be there above the building and hence it will work as lightning conductor.

no, it will not be effective since lightning conductor wss not connected properly to the earth. Therefore, the charge will not pass through the earth.
