During the Covid period, everyone started using his/her savings. Gauri and Sheetal also used their savings which they both saved in past few years. Here is the saving pattern of both of the girls for last 5 weeks. Gauri saved in a pattern of Rs.10 in 1st week, Rs. 12 in 2nd week, Rs.14 in third week and o on while Sheetal saved Rs. 10 in 1st week, RS. 1 in 2nd week, Rs.16 in 3rd week and so on. On the basis of above information answer the following questions:
i) What is the amount saved by Gauri after 15 seks?
a) Rs.320 b) Rs. 360 c) Rs.300 d) Rs.336 ii) What is the amount saved by Sheetal after 15 weeks?
a) Rs. 480 b) Rs.465 c) Rs.400 d) Rs.470 iii) What is the difference in total saving of Gauri and Sheetal 5th week?
a) Rs.10 b) Rs.12 c) Rs.20 d) Rs.8 iv)
Who saved more?
a) Gauri b) Sheetai

Answer:

a.360 b.465 c. 10 d. sheetal

Step-by-step explanation:

Gauri savings= 10,12,14.......

Savings after 15th week= a+ 14d where a=10, d=2

then, 10+14*2 =38

then sum of Gauri's 15th week savings = \frac{n}{2}(a + l) where a=10 , l=38 and n=15

==> \frac{15}{2}(10+38) =360 ans(A)

Now, Sheetal savings= 10,13,16......

Saving after 15th week =a+14d= 10 + 14*3=52

then, Sum of Sheetal's 15th week savings-\frac{n}{2}(a+l) = \frac{15}{2}(10+52)= 465 ans(ii)

Savings of Gauri after 5th week= 10 + 4*2=18

Total savings after 5th week= \frac{5}{2}(10+18)=70

Savings of Sheetal after 5th week = 10 + 4*3=22

Total savings after 5th week= \frac{5}{2}(10+ 22)= 16*5=80

Difference= 80-70=10 ans(iii)

Now, We clearly see that Sheetal saved 1Rs more per day than Gauri. Obviously it will save save more. Sheetal is the answer of 4th question.

Answer:

b) Rs. 360   b) Rs.465  a) Rs.10

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Saving pattern of Gauri  10, 12, 14 ...    [ per 1st, 2nd, 3rd ... weeks ]

Saving pattern of Sheetal 10, 13, 16 ... [ per 1st, 2nd, 3rd .. weeks ]

Given questions:

i) What is the amount saved by Gauri after 15 weeks?

Gouri savings are 10, 12, 14.. which are in AP

Where first term a = 10 and common difference d = 2

Therefore,

The amount saved by Gauri for 15 weeks = sum of 15 terms in AP

As we know sum of n terms in a AP = n/2 [2a + (n – 1)d]

              ⇒  sum of 15 terms in a AP = 15/2[ 2(10)+(15-1)2 ]

                                                            = 7.5 [ 20+14(2) ]

                                                            = 7.5 [ 20+28]

                                                            =  7.5 [48] = 360 Rs.

The answer is  b) 360 Rs.

ii) What is the amount saved by Sheetal after 15 weeks?

Sheela savings are 10, 13, 16.. which are in AP

Where first term a = 10 and common difference d = 3

Therefore,

The amount saved by Sheela for 15 weeks = sum of 15 terms in AP

As we know sum of n terms in a AP = n/2 [2a + (n – 1)d]

              ⇒  sum of 15 terms in a AP = 15/2[ 2(10)+(15-1)3 ]

                                                            = 7.5 [ 20+(14)3 ]

                                                            = 7.5 [ 20+42]

                                                            =  7.5 [62] = 465 Rs.

The answer is  b) 465 Rs.

iii) What is the difference in total saving of Gauri and Sheetal 5th week?

Total savings of Gauri for 5 weeks = 10+12+14+16+18 = 70 Rs.

Total savings of Sheela for 5 weeks = 10+13+16+19+22 = 80 Rs.

difference = 80 Rs - 70 Rs = 10 Rs.

The answer is   a)10 Rs.
