• It is given by p, as $p=mv$, where, m is mass and v is the velocity of the body.
• It can be said that momentum quantifies the amount of motion. Or, how hard or easy is to stop a moving body, is described with the help of momentum.
• As $p=mv$, and since the tennis ball has a mass less than that of the cricket ball, the momentum of the tennis ball will be less, compared to the cricket ball.
• Therefore, the cricket ball may hurt a person because of its higher momentum, while a tennis ball may not.
