During the last 5 years ,
the population of a town that had 1200000 people increased by 15 percent.what is the present population of the town?

so
=1200000+1200000×15/100
=1200000+180000
=1380000
hence the present population is 1380000

also the increase in population that took place is of 18000 people as it is the 15%value of 1200000

Given that : Five years ago the population of town = 1200000

And also given that : Population increased by 15%

Then Present population of town :

=> 1200000×(100+15)/100

=> 1200000×115/100

=> 1380000

So, the present population of town = 1380000
