during Vedic age, men took most of the important decision in a family. But women were also respected. How similar or different is the situation today

Woman enjoyed a high position during Vedic age . There were remarkable woman scholars that time . soon their world turned upside down . They were not respected and even some social evils emerged . Child marriage , no education and self immolation were major social evils . Through efforts of many this system was stopped . Still , They are thought to do only household works  . Even in many countries women are not provided with education .. Women should be respected cause they are source of life . Women are too creative and innovative , so they should be provided with education . 

Our country India has managed to hold the rights and respect for women , but they are still irrespected . During Vedic age girls were prepared for wars , do house hold chores and had rights to study . Therefore we should now provide them with their rights too.
