A physical change is a change in which no new substances are formed . Physical change affects the form of a chemical substance , but not its chemical composition . It cannot be used to separate compounds into chemical elements on simple compounds . It is a temporary change .

For example :- Crushing a can , melting ice , boiling water , mixing sand and water , breaking a glass , dissolving sugar and water , shredding paper and chopping wood .
