Sublimation is the process in which the space between the particles tends to increase.
- Conversion of the solid substance directly into the gaseous state without passing through the liquid state ,the process is called sublimation.
- Examples- Camphor, Naphthalene balls.
- It occurs by the absorption of heat ,that provides the energy to the molecules and get their attraction force become weak ,then they escapes in a vapour phase.
- It is a endothermic process in which substance requires additional energy for the transformation.
- Sublimation is only meant for the changes in the physical state and is not for describing its chemical changes occur.
- The reverse process of sublimation is called deposition in which gaseous vapour directly converts into solid substance.
