The (peri-) Equator region of any Hemisphere still gets sufficient amount of sunlight even when that Hemisphere is facing away from the Sun (winter months). India IS in the Northern Hemisphere. The Earth is tilted by 23.5° on its path around the Sun. This tilt is Constantly towards one side only.
