During the World War II, the Battle of Midway was significant  because it was a turning point in the Pacific theater thought the Second World War and ended the threat of further invasion of Japan in the Pacific.

During the Second World War, the Midway Island was used by US and its allies as seaplane base and fueling station for submarines.  The battle was the first major victory of allies and it make them offensive as well.
