After independence, during the second five-year plan, three new integrated steel plants were set up with foreign collaboration. In 1964 another one integrated steel plant was set up with foreign collaboration:
(1) The Rourkela Steel plant in Orissa in collaboration with Germany in 1959.
(2) Bhilai Steel Plant in Chattisgarh with Russian collaboration in 1959.
(3) Durgapur Steel Plant in West Bengal in collaboration with the United Kingdom in 1962
(4) Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand with Russian collaboration in 1964
