E) Each question carries five marks:-
1) A train covers a certain distance at uniform speed. If the speed is increased by
20 KM/HR, it would take 5 hours less for the journey. If the speed is decreased by 10 KM/HR.,
it would take 4 hours more for the journey. Find the uniform speed of the train and the distance
covered. use simultaneous equation

Step-by-step explanation:

let x be the distance

time taken to travel the x distance at 20km/h= x/20km/h

time taken to travel x distance at 10 km/h

= x/10km/h

from question we know that

x/10km/h -x/20km/h=9hrs

2x-x/20km/h=9hrs

x=9*20km=180km

thus distance is 180km

let y be the correct time of the uniform speed

(y+5) is the correct time for the train that come 5 hours early and (y-4) is the correct time for the train that come 4 hr late

now, uniform speed= d/t=d/t

180/(y+5)=180/(y-4)

=180(y-4)=180(y+5)

=y-y=5+4

uniform speed=9km/h

please tell me this is the answer. I really wanna know. if it's correct send the love emoji ❤ you can ask me if u have doubt on how t-t=9hrs
