Plastic containers are favoured for storing food because they are less reactive whereas steel containers are very reactive to oil

Plastic containers can be used to store food. Though, I wouldnt say much about being favoured. Plastic containers don't release much chemicals into the food (as of the study yet, I suppose). I would say it's safer to use a #5 *recycling* than any other plastics.
