Howdy,when two forces are in same direction then,the forces is add up and give maximum resultant force.when two forces are in opposite direction then,the net force is the difference of two force.

There will the three different situations

1.when both forces act in same direction then the net force will be the sum of both forces

2.When the two forces act with same magnitude but or in opposite direction(balanced force) the net forces will be 0 as the cancel each other.

3.when two forces act in opposite direction but having different magnitude then the net force will be non zero thus causes acceleration.
