Bassanio was a friendly man, but also extravagant. He spent all the wealth that his father had left for him on luxuries. When Antonio told that he will sign the bond for him and give his flesh if they did not return the money, then Bassanio did not agree at first. But Antonio made him agree.

This tells us that although Bassanio was extravagant, he was caring.
