Antibody are available in various classes, which are called Isotype or classes. They are classified according to the heavy chain they contain, i.e , alpha, delta, gamma, epsilon , mu .

• Three antibodies are IgA(alpha) , IgE(epsilon) and IgD(delta)

• other antibodies are IgG (gamma) and IgM (mu).

Isotypea of antibodies are determined by the constant region of heavy chains only and not by the variable chains.
