Both RBCs and sieve tube cell are living cells. Red blood cells do not posses nucleus at maturity as it has to accommodate a large molecule haemoglobin in it. They receive proteins, ATP, and signalling molecules from companion cells. Thus, even though mature sieve tube cells do not contain nucleus, they remain living.
