Let the side be s
Then, by Pythagoras theorem

(Diagnol)² = s²+s²
(12)²=2s²
(12×12)÷2=s²
6×12=s²
72=s²
s²=Area of square
Therefore, Area=***72 cm²***

Answer:

=> Area of a square is 72cm^2.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Diagonal of a square = 12cm

To find:

The area of square = ?

As we know that,

The area of square = \frac{1}{2}\times (digonal)^2

=> \frac{1}{2}\times 12\times 12

Divide 2 by 12 we get,

=>1\times 6\times 12

Simplifying it further,

=> 72cm^2

Hence, the area of a square is 72cm^2.
