Let's assume original side be a.

Original area = √3/4 × a²

new side will be a + 0.015 a = 1.015a

new area = √3/4 × a² × (1.015)² = (1.030225) × a² × √3/4

% increase in are = (new area - original area)/original area × 100

= (√3/4 a² (1.030225 - 1)) / √3/4 a² × 100 = 0.30225 × 100 = 3.02 %
