Why did the early humans deliberately choose a site near a river for planned hunting?
As a hunter myself, i can tell you that rivers still make excellent hunting grounds. Almost all animals have to come down to the river to drink, and they would be easy to ambush. You can also set all kinds of traps on the routs down to the water. Or you could spear them from a boat when they cross the river (specially effective on seasonal migrations).
River also make good camping grounds, witch makes it suitable for hunting parties staying for a longer time.
