Earth is due out in a cylindrical shape from a plot of land the dug out earth is 30 m Deep and 7 m in diameter. This earth is spread out on an adjacent plot of land, in the shape of a rectangle which is of length 33 m and breadth 14 m. To what extent will the height of the earth rise on rectangular plot ?

AnswEr :

  • Height of well ( h ) = 30 m
  • Diameter of well = 7 m
  • Radius of well ( r ) = 3.5 m

Volume of Land Dug Out from well :

⇒ Volume = π( r )²h

⇒ Volume = 22 /7 × ( 3.5 )² × 30

⇒ Volume = 22 × 3.5 × 15

Volume = 1155

Volume of Land Dug out is 1155 m³.

we need to understand something before we move forward with the Question.

  • That Land which is dug out will spread on the rest of land, excluding Well Diameter from Breadth.
  • Let the Height to which it will rise be H.
  • Length of the Plot = 33 m
  • Breadth of the Plot = (14 - 7) = 7 m

Let's Head to the Question Now :

↠ Volume of Plot = Volume of Land Dug

↠ L × B × H = 1155 m³

↠ 33 m × 7 m × H = 1155 m³

↠ 231 m² × H = 1155 m³

  • Dividing both term by 231 m²

H = 5 m

Height of rectangluar plot will rise to 5m
