It is true.

Sunlight is a portion of the electromagnetic radiation that is given off by the Sun. In particular, these radiations are made of infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light. On Earth, sunlight is filtered through Earth's atmosphere and is presented as daylight when the Sun is above the horizon.

Sunlight takes about 8.3 minutes to reach Earth from the surface of the Sun. When the direct solar radiations are not blocked by clouds, it becomes obvious as sunshine which is a combination of bright light and radiant heat. When it is blocked by clouds or reflected off other objects, it is experienced as diffused light.

The ultraviolet radiation in sunlight has both positive and negative effects on health as it is a principal source of vitamin D3 and also, a mutagen.

The answer of your question is "true"
This is because the sunlight is actually the electromagnetic radiation . These contain electromagnetic energy and comes from the sun to the earth by traveling through space These are composed of different part like infrared as well as the visible  and ultraviolet light.
Ultraviolet rays are specially important one as it can cause a bad effect on a life and also have some good aspects too like source of Vitamin D.production in the skin.
