mask is a covering worn on the face or something that disguises or conceals oneself. All the characters in Shakespeare's Hamlet hide behind masks to cover up who they really are, which contridictes a main idea, expressed by the fool, Old Polonius, "To thine ownself be true" (Polonius - 1.3.84). All the characters share strengths and triumphs, flaws and downfalls. Instead of revealing their vulnerabilities, each of them wears a mask that conceals who they are and there true convictions. The masks brought about feelings such as fear, hatred, insanity, indecisiveness, ambitiousness, and vengeance all of which contribute to the tragic ending of the play.

Question

Eassy about Masks

Answer

Wearing a face mask is probably the single best public health action against Covid 19 consequences. But only if everyone wears one.If it is a proper medical mask, sealing against your skin, it will help protect you (note “help” preceded “protect). If it is a proper medical mask (complete with visor, goggles etc) it will do a better job of protecting. If it is a builder’s dusk mask it will only protect you against large aerosol particles (close-up sneezes, coughs). But even wearing a simple dust mask will go a long way to protect everyone else if you have the infection. We suspect that 10 times the number of people detected with Covid 19 are actually out on the streets carrying the infection. So many people are spreading the disease without conscious knowledge. If everyone wears a mask, those carrying the virus without serious symptoms, and unaware of their infection status, will not spread the disease so readily. This only works if everyone wears a mask and the local authorities strictly police the wearing of masks.I would compare the compulsory wearing of masks with the compulsory vaccination against many diseases (e.g. hooping cough). If some people refuse vaccination, they are guilty of risking the health of their and future generations. For those who still don’t get the public health responsibilities, compare compulsory wearing a mask to compulsory seat belts in cars (accident victims cost nations’ health services and even, in less enlightened nations, health insurance). I’d go further and suggest these public health matters are comparable to driving licenses which are intended to protect the public from untrained drivers. As a final foot note, I really can’t understand why nations (possible exception of China) have not introduced a mask rule instead of destroying the nations’ economy.
